Woman killed and man hospitalised in house fire

A woman has died and a man has been hospitalised after a house fire in Sydney's Inner West. Emergency crews were called to a house fire on Westbourne Street in Petersham at 11.50pm on Friday. Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the blaze while police officers evacuated surrounding homes. A second person, a man aged 57, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. He was taken to hospital in a stable condition. There have not been any other reported injuries. Men allegedly took loaded guns to AFL match at MCG overnight

Two men have been charged after allegedly carrying loaded guns into the Melbourne Cricket Ground last night. Victoria Police said they were called by MCG security after the two men refused to leave the Carlton-Collingwood AFL clash last night at about 8.30pm. The men had been asked to leave due to their alleged behaviour. READ MORE: Tony Mokbel to learn decision on freedom today Officers arrested the two men and allegedly found them both carrying guns. Nobody was injured. A 27-year-old Broadmeadows man and a 21-year-old Roxburgh Park man were charged with multiple firearm and bail-related offences. Both were charged with also possessing ammunition and the 27-year-old was charged with possessing a loaded firearm. They have been remanded in custody and will appear in court today.
