Two girls die days after Townsville house fire rescue

Two girls have died after a house fire in Townsville in North Queensland last week.

Emergency services were called to Gum Court in Bushland Beach at about 5.30am on February 1, after reports that the home was fully alight.

Two teenage boys were able to escape the fire.

Authorities were forced to smash the top floor window to enter the flaming building and pull out the girls, aged two and 13.

Emergency services were able to bring out a two-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl.

The girls were taken to hospital in a critical condition, where they died yesterday from their injuries.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire is ongoing.

It is being treated as non-suspicious.
