Melbourne man charged after police seize $35k worth of cocaine from apartment

Police say they have thwarted an illegal drug trafficking operation to supply cocaine across St Kilda after arresting a man and seizing $35,000 worth of drugs from his apartment.

Detectives began the investigation into the alleged cocaine distribution in May after several anonymous reports were made to Crime Stoppers.

At around 5.30am on Thursday, officers executed a search warrant at an apartment on St Kilda Road in St Kilda.

"While the glitz and glamour of a life funded by drug trafficking may look appealing, the consequences of getting caught do not," Senior Constable Tom Garside said.

Inside the apartment, police seized a traffickable quantity of cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $35,000.

Police also seized quantities of MDMA, cannabis and cash, and electronic devices.

The 25-year-old has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine, MDMA and cannabis, and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

"Trafficking drugs will leave a smear against your name for the rest of your life; a criminal record will follow you to any job interview, relationships and friendships and will cost you far more than just the money gained from your offending.

"We thank the members of the community who provided police with key information via anonymous tip-offs and encourage anyone who has any inkling that a crime may have taken place to also make a report."

He was bailed to appear in court in May next year.
