Woman killed and man hospitalised in house fire

A woman has died and a man has been hospitalised after a house fire in Sydney's Inner West. Emergency crews were called to a house fire on Westbourne Street in Petersham at 11.50pm on Friday. Fire and Rescue crews extinguished the blaze while police officers evacuated surrounding homes. A second person, a man aged 57, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. He was taken to hospital in a stable condition. There have not been any other reported injuries. UN Chief says at least 10,000 children killed in Yemen conflict

At least 10,000 children have died in Yemen's nearly eight-year war, UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, said Wednesday as international attention remains squarely on the war in Ukraine, Anadolu News Agency reports. "Yemen may have receded from the headlines, but the human suffering has not relented. For seven years and counting, the Yemeni people have been confronting death, destruction, displacement, starvation, terror, division and destitution on a massive scale," he said at the UN headquarters in New York. "Millions are facing extreme hunger, and the World Food Programme had to cut rations in half due to the lack of funds. Further cuts are looming. This is a tragedy," he added.
