CCTV released after brazen daylight shooting of defence lawyer in Sydney

CCTV has been released showing the moments before a Sydney defence lawyer was gunned down outside his home in Sydney's south-west last year.

Mahmoud Abbas can be seen in the footage walking to his car when he was ambushed by a masked man, hiding behind a black Jeep.

The masked man allegedly shot the 30-year-old before fleeing the scene in a car about 10.25am on July 26 on Narelle Crescent in Greenacre.

Mahmoud Abbas, 31, was shot outside a Greenacre home in Sydney's south west

Police were called to scene, finding Abbas suffering gunshot wounds in his driveway.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police have previously described the attack as targeted.

"This is clearly a targeted and brazen shooting," Detective Superintendent Adam Johnson said.

Police have released CCTV of the incident along with images of a black jeep recovered in Wiley Park on July 27.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, the identity of the man, or the movements of the car to come forward.
