Gold Coast office building evacuated after grenades handed in

Part of a Gold Coast suburb have been sealed off after multiple guns and grenades were handing into an office building.

Offices have told locals to stay in their homes and have evacuated the building on Bay Street in Southport.

Officers were called at 8.30am, saying three grenades and three firearms were "surrendered" to the office.

The exclusion zone is on Bay St between Davenport and Ralins Streets.

"Police are currently conducting emergency operations in the area and requesting members of the public not attend the area," Queensland Police said.
