AFL star's stolen Range Rover used in Melbourne crime spree

AFL star Dustin Martin's Range Rover has been used in a wild crime spree after it was stolen from a Melbourne petrol station.

Martin had lent the luxury car to a friend, who had left the key in the ignition while he went inside to pay for petrol on Barkly Street in St Kilda about 9pm on January 23 when the car was taken, 9News understands.

Police then found the car at an address on the same street about 1.55am on January 24, before a man allegedly tried to flee in the car, ramming an unmarked police car and another car.

With the Range Rover then stuck in place, the driver, a a 29-year-old Springvale man, allegedly tried to run away, but was chased by officers and arrested.

A 22-year-old Safety Beach woman, who was found inside the stolen Range Rover, was also arrested.

Drugs were also allegedly found inside the car.

Both the man and woman were charged with a number of offences and are being dealt with by Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
